Wildlife photography is my passion, with black and white being my medium of choice. Alternative to wildlife, I enjoy photojournalism (or documentary reportage). Black and white’s essential qualities – lighting, geometry, massing and texture allows one to capture the drama, sensuousness or stillness unfolding in front of you. Without the distraction of colour, there is less going on in the photo. This provides more opportunity to explore and emphasise that which brings-across the narrative. Black and white photography abstracts things, and I like that. It allows the eye to concentrate; the mind to consider the protagonist; and the story to penetrate.
